Temple Made Days and Innovation with Impact events will culminate with the investiture of John A. Fry as the university’s 15th president on Friday, April 4.

Following a comprehensive national search overseen by the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, higher education leader John Fry has been named as Temple University's 15th president.

U.S. News, which has published its annual “Best Colleges” rankings since 1983, revised its methodology this year. Temple University placed No. 89 in the latest national university rankings, which marks the highest ranking ever for the university and the first time Temple has been included in the top 100.

Miguel Mostafá will start as the next dean of Temple University's College of Science and Technology on Oct. 1

Following a national search, Monika Williams Shealey has been appointed dean of the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). She will officially begin in her role on July 1 and will replace James Earl Davis, who has served as dean in an interim capacity since June 1, 2022.

Part of the National Artificial Intelligence Research Institutes Accelerating Research, Transforming Society and Growing the American Workforce program, Temple University along with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Florida and Educational Testing Services will have five years and $19.5M to pursue inclusive and intelligent technologies for education. The Temple project will be led by Jamie Payton, professor and chair of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences in the College of Science and Technology.

Sophia Lee, LAW ’00, ’04, a longtime Philadelphia-area lawyer and current partner in the litigation practice at Blank Rome LLP, has been named Temple University’s chief of staff. Within this new role, Lee will help oversee daily university operations while also working closely with other members of Temple’s administration to help lead and implement various strategic initiatives across the university.

Temple University President Jason Wingard recently met with Susan Snyder, higher education reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. The two discussed his strategic vision, his priorities for Temple and also looked back at everything that transpired during year one in office.
