John Fry Named Temple’s 15th President
On July 3, 2024, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of John Fry as Temple University’s 15th president. President-elect Fry is nationally recognized as an innovative and impactful higher education leader who boasts the experience and capabilities our community made clear were needed in the next president.
He will officially join Temple as our next president on November 1.

President of Temple University
Richard M. Englert is currently serving as Temple’s president for the 2023–2024 academic year while a search for a new president is underway. This marks Englert’s third term as the university’s chief executive officer, previously serving as president from 2016 to 2021, and as acting president in 2012. For more than 45 years, President Englert has led Temple and remained an engaged member of the university community across various roles, including dean and chancellor.
